Panic Attacks: How to deal with them
Panic attacks are mental states with physical symptoms. They cause episodes of anxiety and fear with intense physical reactions. They are especially frightening, because they occur suddenly, in situations where most people do not expect to feel irritated or afraid. The speed with which they appear, their symptoms and intensity, as well as the fact that they affect many parts of the body, make the feeling of fear and helplessness greater.
Let’s see how we can deal with it
- Since they are mental state with emotional causes, the most immediate and complete treatment is psychotherapy. I would suggest the energy psychotherapy that I have been applying since 2010, for more immediate results. You can read experiences of people who tried it. We identify the cause, we treat it and at the same time you are trained in stress management and how to deal with the crisis faster and effectively.
- Panic attacks are a resounding message that you have neglected yourself and need changes in your life! So every crisis is an opportunity to get to know yourself, to set your limits on others, to follow your inner voice and to experience your life according to what leads you to your personal happiness. You can ask questions like “What’s bothering me?” “Why does it bother me?” “Since it bothers me why do I do it or do I allow it?” Why do I say “Yes”, when I wanted to say “No”? All this will give you information to clearly see the behaviors you need to change.
- However, in order to claim the respect and appreciation of others, a basic requirement is to feel that you deserve it. So self-esteem, self-respect and true love for yourself are necessary conditions to make the necessary changes and set your boundaries with others. (see how)
- Deep breathing, light exercise (walking, swimming, dancing, running), yoga and stretching act as a natural anxiolytic. They calm the body and mind and soothe negative emotions. They supply oxygen to the brain and this helps control stress and better manage the condition
- Meditation, prayer and inner silence help us to come into contact with ourselves and see clearly the changes we need to make in our lives
- Professional massage helps to completely relax the body, eliminate tensions and emotional blockations and calm the mind.
- Reduce smoking, alcohol and caffeine as much as possible.
- Adequate and good quality sleep, for absolute rest and rejuvenation in body and mind.
- Flower remedies
- Create close emotional relationships. The feeling of alienation and isolation reinforces the symptoms
- Find a self-awareness group. It will help you get to know yourself better, make the necessary changes in your life easier, you will have a support team whenever you need it, and you will learn ways to manage your stress.
- Try a foot bath with salts.
What helps in the bud of a panic attack
Deep breaths, water on the face, salt bath, massage on the head (the relaxation caused helps reduce cortisol which is the stress hormone, and we also achieve better blood supply), exercise, positive affirmations, nature sounds, flower remedies
If you are in front of an episode
Don’t tell him”calm down”, it is taken as a rejection. Say, “yes, talk to me”, “what can I do to help you”, “take a breath”, “I’m here for you”. Be calm, understanding and lack criticism. Guide the person in deep slow breaths. Distract him to another topic of conversation or something that interests both of them. Encourage the person after the crisis to rush for help.
Can I prevent it?
There is no way to predict when a panic attack will occur. The best prediction is to identify the cause that creates it for you, as we said above. This will get rid of the problem once and for all.
Remember that regardless of the cause, any panic attack is always treatable!
